I'm a graphic designer based in Glasgow, Scotland, and also dabble in music production and vjing in my spare time.
Although I design things every day at work I know nothing about interior or furniture design, but I'd hoping to find out more over the next few months.
My new flat is a blank canvas pretty much (lovely cream shades all over the place, eugh) so it's going to be a hands on experience!

Remove paint splatters from newly varnished floorboards?
By 3stripeSo my decorator didn't cover the floor properly when he painted, and how there are tiny flecks of white paint all over the place.
Will he be able to remove it all somehow without damaging the pine floorboards?
Or is he going to have to remove the varnish/paint and re-varnish it all?
I've had a shot myself out of interest and I did remove a few wee spots with my fingernails, but it would take weeks to do it all like that!

Contemporary (and not too expensive) UK furniture websites?
By 3stripeI'm hunting some new furniture for my flat here in sunny Scotland.
To those of you in the UK, can you recommend any good websites for buying nice modern, minimal furniture?
Specifically I'm looking for...
1. A round dining table, about 90-100cm diameter, in white or some kind of simple colour...
EDIT: Just found the Magis Easy Table... I like it! But I would prefer something round like this KissiKissi table if it came in a bigger size.

Ever-patient 3stripe, we've heard your call. Glasgow is now available. Also, I think you can change your login back to 3stripe if you like.

Hello!

Hi threestripe! Welcome to Curbly! I'm glad you liked my melted LP post. I've seen them for sale at craft shows and shops over here, too. If you've visited my profile, you know I'm always trying to recreate things on the cheap! This was one of them!
I was thinking about your wavy shelf idea. I asked my MWT* and he suggested going to a sheet metal job shop and having them bend sheet metal into shape. The shop will have to have a rolling machine, says MWT. Have you considered bendy MDF? It probably wouldn't work for the S shape you want, as I don't think it will bend back on itself, but it would work for lozenge shapes. I saw one of the designers on Changing Rooms do it! ;)
