Epoxy Resin Class!

By 3rd Ward Brooklyn

Wanted to let everyone know about a great class we have coming up Epoxy Resin for Artists Sunday May 27 1p-5p Last Day to Register: May 17 $110 members/ $140 Non-Members materials fee $70 due May 17. No registration cancellations after this date. Want to make a tabletop out of your old album covers? Suspend objects or pigment in a transparent sculpture? Or simply make objects you already own shiny and durable? This 4-hour intensive provides an introduction to Epoxy Resin and various ways to work with it. Epoxies can be tailored to various needs through adding fillers for thickness or reinforcement materials such as fiberglass for strength. Alexi Chisler has adapted the industrial processes of boat building and surfboard making for home studio use and she will share her tricks of the trade. This class is focused on experimental uses of Epoxy Resins - no experience is necessary! This intensive will cover: what epoxy and fiberglass are and where to buy them, safety procedures, epoxy and fiberglass lay-up, adding color to Epoxy, and clear coating for an incredibly shiny veneer on flat surfaces. You are welcome to bring a drawing or painting on wood and scraps of cloth for experiments. All techniques will be demonstrated, and all students will have hands on practice with one type of epoxy. The materials fee includes all materials needed for this class (epoxy can be a little pricy) as well as a respirator with organic vapor cartridges. Please wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting stained. Advanced Registration is necessary.
