Honestly, if I’d have seen this coffee table at my local Goodwill, I would have passed on the shape alone. (My rule is if it isn’t rectangular or round, forget it.) But it was exactly the octagonal shape that worked–and worked well–for Sheena’s sectional sofa arrangement. So she plunked down a whole 12 bucks for the thing and then decided to turn it into a tufted ottoman. A light sanding, some paint, and a new upholstered top later, and this is how it looks now:
