Before and After: Thrift Store Bench Gets a Scandinavian-Inspired Makeover

by on Mar 4, 2013

We’ve all seen it: the cracking, vinyl-covered thrift store furniture. It only cleans up so well and the usual attack plan is to simply re-cover it with some upholstery fabric. This bench was headed toward the same usual fate until makeover genius Morgan Satterfield got a brilliant idea:

Forgo the typical fabric option and re-cover that bad boy with some shaggy, Flokati goodness. Morgan used an old IKEA rug (similar to this one) that she had on hand and, after an hour or two, she had herself an awesome Scandinavian-esque bench! Check out how she did it over on The Brick House.

What do you think of this makeover? Have you seen any other unusual materials used for upholstery?
