From Humble to Grand: Magical Places in Snow

by on Nov 16, 2011

Have you ever noticed that snow is a great equalizer? Covered in a fresh, frosty blanket of white, the most humble structure can be as breathtaking as the most majestic. Here’s a collection of photos that recently caught my eye that seem to illustrate my point.

The blue home above and the one pictured below were spotted on Pinterest’s “Magical Abodes” page. They may be worlds away in locale and square footage, but they’re equally beautiful in their own way.

This photo makes me think all cabins should be red.

Churches–especially county ones–are the picture of tranquillity when draped with snow.

Fit for a Christmas card is this gorgeous home

christmas, christmas decorations, house, lights, photograph, snow

It might be an unfair comparison, but no list such as this would be complete without a mention of Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria

  1. Hi, I hope you can help me,, I would like the know, if possible, the location of this beautiful house. You see, my new 49 year old sister has jokingly stated for 2 years now that she wants to go there for Christmas, but doesn’t know where it is. She obviously is not going to do so, but its like a sore ache in her that she doesn’t even know where it is. She is my new sister, as of 2 years ago, when her mother finally told her the name of her unknown father, my Dad, only Dad had died about 3 months earlier. It took her a long time to find us, her 2 half sisters and brother, but here we are now! For Xmas this year, I want to tease her that I have the location, time for her to order her tickets and pack her bags!! I have just spent several hours online looking for more information about this picture, and have traced it from Google images where you copy the image onto the Google bar and it suggests images that match, only 1 did, to your site and then to Pininterest, (looking thru many many albums suggested, ) then again to Stumbleweed. But no where was I able to find more information than what you had posted. Its as if you invented the picture!! So, if you do have any more information, would you please allow me to have it for my sister? You can email me at the above email address, or on here, if this still works,, Don’t know about your site, cannot get to this page from within your site,,,, I thank you for listening to my story and hope that you might be able to help me. Sincerely, Dawn A.
